Dr. Hockaday, the second interim president of KCTCS, discussed his background and education; the conversations with Paul Patton and Gordon Davies that brought him to Kentucky to serve as interim president; his awareness of Kentucky?s higher education reform efforts, and the residual effects of it when he took over; his living conditions, office conditions, interactions with staff, college presidents and technical directors; his leadership style; steps undertaken to untangle accreditation issues; the search for a permanent system president; Patton?s unceasing commitment to reform; his friendship with Michael McCall and how he convinced a reluctant McCall to apply for the post; the transition between his interim presidency and McCall?s permanent tenure; and his personal views of McCall as a professional and a person.
