Interview Summary
Raimond Herbert, born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, explains how his Catholic faith motivated him to join the military in 1969. After describing his training, he describes his combat experiences in Vietnam as well as in Cambodia. He describes the revival of his faith during his tour, recalling that a period of depression was lifted after he prayed about it. He indicates that during his tour of one and a half years, some even in the military began to doubt the war effort. He describes the negative atmosphere he found upon returning home in 1971, as well as his dealings with the Veterans Administration. He expresses his pride in having served in Vietnam and comments on the Gulf War.Interview Accession
