Interview Summary

Parker begins the interview by summarizing his background and interest in alternative music. Subsequently, Parker discusses how he became involved as a DJ with WRFL, as well as a description of his experience at the University of Kentucky. The interviewee's favorite genres of alternative music are detailed. The remixing of jazz is briefly explored, followed by a discussion of various concerts that WRFL orchestrated during the 1980s. Next, Parker assesses the applicability of his experience as a DJ to his career in interior design, as well as to his brief time spent in TV production. Parker also characterizes the Lexington underground music scene and Lexington's gay culture in the 1980s. WRFL's cultural and music scenes are then illustrated. Parker concludes the interview by talking about the effort to put WRFL on the air and shares his final thoughts on the radio station.
