Interview Summary

Commisioner for the Department of Administration for the Finance Cabinet. Ms. Miller begins this interview giving her personal background information, and recalling how she first entered the state government sector. She remembers how she met Governor Wetherby and assumed the responsibility of his secretary during his term, gives her sentiments of the Clement administration work atmosphere, and of the transition between the two governors. Miller lists several people of Wetherby's staff, and of the job descriptions of each of them. She gives accounts of working during the renovation of the capitol building, and of the typical day of Governor Wetherby and his office and compares that to Governor Clements. She speaks of Wetherby's work ethic and dedication to the Democratic Party. Miller speaks of how Governor Wetherby's schedule and people's accessibility to him. She recalls how Governor Wetherby prepared his speeches and letters, and the frequency she saw Wetherby's family in his office. Ms. Miller ends speaking about Governor Wetherby's personality and her feelings towards the 1995 gubernatorial election.
