Interview Summary

A graduate of Dunbar High School and Kentucky State University, Mr. Bibbs discusses his childhood experiences growing up in Lexington and his participation in the Dunbar band. He recalls the Hurricane Night Club, the Lyric Theater, and other entertainment available on Deweese Street, and reports on the effect integration had on African American businesses. Mr. Bibbs also discusses African American leadership in Lexington and the role of the church in the community.
