Interview Summary
Robert G. Haney served as a radio operator with the 150th Armored Signal Company of the 10th Armored Division. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge at Bastogne, Belgium, where the American forces were completely surrounded by Germans. Haney describes near-constant artillery and mortar fire, including a direct hit on the building where his team was quartered. He recalls his elation at an air-drop of supplies, and at the arrival of General George Patton and the 4th Armored Division. Haney also talks about traveling through Germany near the end of the war and seeing the Dachau concentration camp after its liberation.Interview Accession
