Just Transition: Post-Coal Transition Movement In Appalachia Oral History Project
Project Summary
This is a series of interviews with "just transition" activists on the post-coal transition / just transition movement in the coal fields of Appalachia. A portion of the interviews were conducted by students as part of their Sociology 360 course under associate Professor of Sociology Dr. Shaunna L. Scott at the University of Kentucky.According to Kentuckians for the Commonwealth (KFTC): "The term Just Transition describes an all-in, inclusive, and place-based process to build economic and political power to shift from an extractive economy to a regenerative one. [It] requires solutions that ensure the well-being of workers and communities; address racial, economic and gender injustice; protect our health, environment and climate; and create meaningful, good jobs and a thriving and sustainable economy."
