Interview Summary
Truitt Fore, a former employee of TVA, begins the interview by explaining how he was hired at the TVA, as well as an overview of his educational background. Fore's first assignment at the TVA (in the Division of Forestry Development ) is recalled. Additionally, Fore's career in the Division of Forestry development is summarized, including stints in TVA offices in Norris, Tennessee, and Paris, Tennessee. The interviewee then provides an overview of his work in the Southern District Division of Reservoir Properties in Mussel Shoals, Alabama. Efforts at mosquito control, property surveillance, and land rental are examined. Industrial development of TVA lands during the mid-1960s is also mentioned. Compliance efforts with Section 26a of the Tennessee Valley Authority Act of 1933 is detailed. Fore's experience with a mid-career development opportunity at Stanford University is reflected upon. Subsequently, Fore's work in the Central District Division of Reservoir Properties is explored. The Tellico project and Fore's involvement are briefly mentioned. The dynamics of the Central District office are also revealed. The interviewee's promotion to the Division Office of Reservoir Properties in Knoxville is considered. TVA construction and land acquisition procedures are detailed. The congressional referral process and Fore's job promotion are chronicled. Fore then articulates changes to TVA during the latter part of his career. To conclude the interview, Fore examines some of his memories of TVA and gives some final thoughts on TVA as a whole.Interview Accession
