Project: Family Farms of Kentucky: Farm and Farmstead Oral History Project
Interview Summary
Charles Shouse, a farmer living on Cane Creek, begins the interview by describing family photos. The majority of the photographs are found to have been taken by the same photographer. The date that the photographs were taken range from the turn of the twentieth century to the 1940s. Next, Shouse gives an overview of his childhood farm, located in Estill County, Kentucky. Aspects such as the floor plan, daily life, and the surrounding community are included in the discourse. Lastly, the aforementioned topics are discussed in relation to the home that formerly occupied Shouse's current property (which was demolished, and replaced by a newer house that Shouse now lives in).Interview Accession
