Interview Summary

Susan Abbott-Jamieson conducts an interview with anthropologist Carole E. Hill, focused on her career at various universities and her research conducted throughout her career. Hill discusses developing the anthropology department at Georgia State University, including the setbacks she faced with hiring faculty. Hill talks about the relationships she had with her anthropology students, taking them on her research project trips. Hill details the positions she held outside of Georgia State University, doing healthcare research at multiple universities in the Southeastern region of the United States. She discusses her main research focuses during her career: healthcare and medical anthropology. Hill tells Abbott-Jamieson about what she believes are her most impactful research projects, including her research on healthcare policy in Costa Rica and using urban spaces in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. Hill discusses her research on information technology in hospitals in Egypt and Jordan. She talks about research areas outside of her expertise which interest her, as well as her interest in personal research in her retirement.
