Interview Summary
Michael Kenney talks about coming to Christian Appalachian Project in 1965 with his wife and their two children. He talks about his and his wife's responsibilities as volunteers. Kenney talks about how, at the time that he arrived at Christian Appalachian Project, most of the programs and projects were based on the ideas and efforts of each individual volunteer. He says that they did not meet much resistance to their programs from the outside because the organization was so small. He talks about the image he had of Appalachia before he arrived there. Kenney talks about who would take care of their two children while he and his wife worked as volunteers at Christian Appalachian Project. He talks about a fundraising trip he took for Christian Appalachian Project. He talks about the religious aspects of CAP in 1965, Father Beiting's role, and his fellow volunteers.Interview Accession
