Interview Summary
This interview with Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist John Ed Pearce was conducted in his Louisville office (the Starks Building) in 1990.John Ed Pearce's greatest influence came as an editorial writer and a columnist for The Courier-Journal of Louisville, where he worked for more than four decades. From 1990 until his death in 2006, Pearce was a contributing columnist for the Lexington Herald-Leader. His work also appeared in The New York Times and The Washington Post, and he wrote several books. Pearce was co-recipient of a Pulitzer Prize for Public Service in 1954. He is the author of Days of Darkness: The Feuds of Eastern Kentucky.
