Interview Summary

Diane Hemphill served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in North Macedonia from September 2016 to November 2018. Prior to Peace Corps, Hemphill had a career as a Title 1 Ad/Program Assistant in the education sector and she had engaged in a DESCRIBE volunteer service. As she reached mid-career, her childhood dream of joining Peace Corps was finally a possibility. Hemphill's training cohort was MAK21. Her pre-service training in the Macedonian language, culture, and technical training were conducted in the city of Vatasha. Her site assignment was in Bitola working as a development advisor for Bitola’s American Red Cross office and the non-profit Together Macedonia. Hemphill also engaged in secondary projects in Youth Development, African American History and Diversity Inclusion. Once Hemphill her service, she began working for a non-profit as an accounting assistant.
