Interview Summary

Rick Bell discusses his family history and his childhood in Louisville, Kentucky in the late 1940s and early 1950s. He discusses his parents' expectations for his education and their participation in his academic life. Bell discusses popular hangouts, his first car, working, shooting photography with his father and with the Kentucky Kernel, dating, drinking, and smoking in high school and college. He discusses aspects of culture in Louisville, including shopping, transportation, medical care, entertainment, and more.
