Interview Summary
Bruce Carver graduated from Hopkinsville High School in 1965 and enrolled in summer classes at Kentucky Wesleyan College before enrolling at Hopkinsville Community College in the fall where he was elected the first president of Student Government. He transferred to the University of Kentucky in the fall of 1966, transferred to the University of Hawaii for his junior year where he was president of the campus Young Republicans, and transferred back to U.K. for his senior year and graduated with a degree in History in 1969. While at U.K. he was involved in Student Government and the Young Republicans. After graduating in 1969 he was a residencehall manager while he worked toward earning a teaching certificate. He was drafted into the Air Force in 1970 and spent a year in Vietnam. In this interview he discusses his Covid-19 illness, the 2020 Presidential Election, and his experiences at Hopkinsville Community College in 1965 and his enrollment at the University of Kentucky in the fall of 1966.Interview Accession
