Interview Summary
M. Chandler describes her husband's political career, particularly his early political career running for governor and the United States Senate. M. Chandler discusses her husband's conflicts with John Y. Brown in the late 1930s and 1940s. She also discusses the connections she helped forge between her husband and various political figures such as Harry Byrd and Camden Johnson. In many instances, she acknowledges that she does not recall many of the details of her husband's private conversations with many figures.Interview Accession
