Interview Summary

Daniel M. Sprague (Colombia, 1963-1965; Youth and Community Development Program) discusses his life and educational background both before and after joining the Peace Corps. Sprague details his experience of working for the Peace Corps in Colombia. The interviewee also explains how the Peace Corps impacted his career development. Sprague describes his work federal work in Washington, D.C., and in California evacuating refugees after the fall of Saigon. Sprague also details his work with the Bay Area Social Planning Council. Sprague then describes his 20-year position as head of the Council of State Governments whose role is to educate state legislators internationally and discusses the importance of national service. To conclude the interview, Sprague explains his connection to American politician Sam Farr.
