Interview Summary
Ruth L. Lewis Murray was born in Crestwood, KY on June 12, 1920. Murray enlisted in May of 1944 and left the service in January 1946. Ruth started her education at Transylvania University and went on to Syracuse University later. She joined the American Red Cross and received training in Washington D.C. prior to going overseas. The ship carrying Ruth overseas stopped in Bombay, India and she was later transported by train to Calcutta, India. While in Calcutta, Ruth was assigned to an Air Force Base and she was there for over a year. Murray received the WWII Theatre Award.Interview Accession
