Interview Summary
Governor Albert Benjamin "Happy" Chandler talks about his relationship with John Sherman Cooper over the course of several decades. He discusses the beginning of their friendship when they were in college and played sports. He talks about the times he has helped Cooper with his political campaigns for Senator of Kentucky. He mentions certain candidates, governors, and senators he supported and others he opposed and explains why he held these stances. Chandler discusses his own political campaigns and their outcomes and his views on his opponents. He concludes by discussing several occasions on which he and Cooper collaborated to accomplish their goals and he praises Cooper for his contributions to the state of Kentucky and the country.Interview Accession
