Interview Summary

The Director of Micro City Government and a graduate of Dunbar High School, Mr. Berry comments upon his educational background, his experience in the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) as a 15 year old, and his early recognition of segregation within the school system. He reminisces about the fight for integration of Lexington's stores, lunch counters, buses and theaters, and recalls the abuse which the demonstrators suffered. He discusses the use of Black Power during the civil rights movement, discrimination in the 1970s, and the development of Micro City Government.
