Interview Summary

This interview with Knox County (Ky.) Superintendent of Schools Walter Hulett begins with a discussion of his childhood, including when and where he was born and a description of the house in which he grew up. He then talks about what he and his friends did for recreation, as well as what his family did to make a living. Hulett also discusses how his family obtained water and disposed of waste.
Next, Hulett moves on to talk about environmental issues, such as how he currently disposes of waste and his opinion of the Personal Responsibility in a Desirable Environment (PRIDE) organization. Hulett also gives suggestions for creating a cleaner and safer environment. Finally, Hulett talks about reusing and recycling material to create other useful items, including a description of collecting soda bottles to return to the store for a nickel refund.
