Interview Summary

Chandler is the owner and founder of Mill Ridge Farm in Lexington, Kentucky. Her father, Hal Price Headley, owned Beaumont Farm in Lexington and is considered one of the most successful Thoroughbred breeders of his generation. He was instrumental in the founding of Keeneland Racecourse and served as Keeneland's first president. Alice Chandler shares stories of her family and childhood on Beaumont Farm, Keeneland's early years, and the founding of Mill Ridge Farm. She reflects on her father's influence in the Thoroughbred industry and in the Lexington community. Chandler also discusses her father's death at Keeneland in 1962 and breeding Sir Ivor, winner of the 1968 Epsom Derby.
