Interview Summary
Lyman T. Johnson discusses the history of, and his participation in, the civil rights movement and protests in Louisville, Kentucky. He talks about specific protests at places like Memorial Hall, Brown Theater, and the Rathskellar Hotel. He discusses the legal battles he dealt with in desegregating Louisville and other places in Kentucky. He discusses some prominent black churches in Louisville, the colonial history of religion in the black community and religion during slavery in general, and black pastors in Louisville and the impact that many of them had on the black community.Interview Accession
