Interview Summary
Robert "Bob" Olson (Turkey, 1963-1965; Education Program) tells how his Peace Corps experience as an English teacher in Turkey influenced his decision to obtain his subsequent doctorate in history and pursue a career as a specialist in Middle East history and politics at the University of Kentucky. In addition, Bob describes his travels in Turkey, meeting Kurds (later the subject for one of his books) for the first time, and learning about President Kennedy's assassination.Interview Accession
