Interview with Lucy Crain, October 10, 2015
Project: Women In White: Women Physicians Oral History Project
Interview Summary
Lucy Crain, a world-renowned pediatrician, discusses her experiences in the medical field throughout her life. Coming from a family where both of her parents were in the medical field, Crain took on the world by attending the University of Kentucky to become a medical doctor. She was one of four women in her medical school class and had to work harder than her male counterparts to be equal to them in the eyes of those around her. She discusses meeting her husband, marrying in medical school, and traveling the country (and world) with him while practicing medicine. She talks about how she found her love for pediatrics, her internship, her residency, and discusses the change that the involvement of women has brought about in the medical field.Interview Accession
