Interview Summary

She received her bachelors degree from West Virginia State College in 1954, and began her career at Constitution Elementary School where she taught physical education for eleven years. She is married to George Miller and is the mother of three children. When the Lexington schools were integrated, Mrs. Miller was involuntarily transferred to Mary Todd Lincoln Elementary in 1971. She discusses the teaching conditions at Constitution during segregation and the problems encountered after integration, as well as the difficulties still faced by African American students.
