Interview Summary
As part of this oral history project, advertisements were made for community members to come forward to record their memories of Café LMNOP. John Brannock came to one of these recording sessions to give his views on the negative aspects of Café LMNOP. Strong anti-LGBTQ+ views are expressed in this interview.John Brannock talks about his religious beliefs and his vehement opposition to the LGBTQ+ community. He talks about not accepting his brother, Daryl Brannock, because of those beliefs. He says his mother continued to love Daryl despite their religious beliefs and talks about how their mother raised Daryl compared to the other brothers. Brannock gives his views on what he sees as the deteriorating morality of the United States. He talks about he and his mother helping with the opening night of Café LMNOP despite his religious objections. He talks about being friends with the Picklesimers since childhood. Brannock talks about his brother Daryl Brannock's death and the wake, which several people from Café LMNOP attended. He talks about kicking the people from Café LMNOP out of the wake. He talks about why he has kept his brother's photos and other mementos despite his antagonism toward his brother.
