Interview with Clinton "Clint" Kellner, October 28, 2021
Project: Peace Corps: COVID-19 Evacuated Peace Corps Volunteers Oral History Project
Interview Summary
Clinton (Clint) Kellner served with his wife Madeline as a response volunteer in Iquitos, Peru from late January, 2020 to March, 2020, when they were evacuated because of the Covid pandemic. His NGO, Minga Peru, was active in many sectors working to bring greater economic prosperity and better health to the people. Iquitos is a city of 500,000 on the Amazon that is accessible only by plane and boat. Clint’s job was to develop Eco-tourism. His favorite memory is a trip they took to Minga Peru’s training center and participated in training activities with village women from up the Amazon who were learning about cervical cancer. After missing the initial plane out, they were evacuated to Lima and then to the Bay Area where they live. They have kept in contact with friends in Peru and with Minga Peru, helping them in fund-raising efforts, and hope to return when pandemic restrictions ease.Interview Accession
