Interview Summary
Christine Wolf served as an education volunteer in Poland from 1996-1998. She grew up with a service-oriented background in Kenosha, WI, and served as an AmeriCorps Vista member before Peace Corps service. Christine talks about being surprised she was placed in a post-soviet region, and the opportunity to learn about that area of the world. After training in Radom, Christine was placed in Jelena Gora near the Karkonosze Mountain Range. She discusses her time teaching high school English and chairing a women in development group. Christine enjoyed hiking, traveling, and participating in Model UN in her free time. She discusses the importance of Catholicism in Poland, the remnants of Soviet influence, and the effects of transitioning from a communist region to a democracy. Christine describes how her Peace Corps experience directly influenced her work in International Education and taught her that education is the way to global understanding and peacemaking.Interview Accession
