Interview with Geoffrey Glenn, October 2, 2022
Project: Peace Corps: The Returned Peace Corps Volunteer Oral History Project
Interview Summary
Geoffrey Glenn served in Ukraine, 2016-2018, as a middle-aged volunteer working in community and economic development. Staging was in Miami, and training was in Chernihiv in north central Ukraine. Permanent site was Dubno in the western part of the country. There Geoff worked out of a 900-year-old castle on strategic development. He and his cohort Mykola capitalized on what was already being done successfully, enabling them to close 79 projects by the end of Geoff’s service. After PC, Geoff married a Ukrainian woman with family in Ukraine. When the Russo-Ukrainian War broke out in February 2022, they moved to Poland to assist with humanitarian efforts. As of the date of his interview they are living in Ukraine where they continue work on relief efforts. Geoff believes the reason to join PC is to help others. He said there isn’t a part of his life that hasn’t been touched by PC.Interview Accession
