Interview with Chris Lacher, February 13, 2021
Project: Peace Corps: The Returned Peace Corps Volunteer Oral History Project
Interview Summary
Chris Lacher attended nine schools before entering college. He was used to "change as life." Chris graduated from John Carroll University with a degree in communications and business. Offered a water and sanitation project in Honduras, he accepted because it seemed structured and met his interest in health issues. Entrena was the training contractor who used the community based training model with small groups of trainees in a community and family live-in. Assigned to Sanaa, the Honduran ministry for water and sanitation, he became a technician organizing water boards. His first community had 200 families. In his second year, Chris took on the role of project engineer and lived in Siguatepeque. Work entailed 20% building activity and 80% communicating with the community about the project. Peace Corps influenced Chris with respect to teamwork, collaboration, diversity, and alternative perspectives.Interview Accession
