Interview Summary

Dr. Morris Scherago came to the University of Kentucky in 1919 to join the bacteriology department. In this interview he discusses his experiences as a faculty member, including his impressions of his colleagues and the university administration. He gives his opinion on university presidents Oswald, Dickey, Donovan, and McVey. He talks about the facilities and funding available for his department and how it has grown over the years. Scherago discusses how certain events affected the university, including the Great Depression, World War II, and the admittance of black students to the university for the first time.
