Interview Summary
Ginnie Rueber was interviewed via Zoom on April 1, 2022 about her experiences during the Vietnam War. Rueber begins by talking about her background before her involvement in the Marines. She talks about where she grew up, her family, hobbies, and more, detailing her life before the military. Rueber talks about her early military involvement. She explains how she first got involved in the military and some of the earliest challenges she faced as a woman in the Marines. Rueber then speaks about being a teletype operator, the training she went through, and her boot camp experience. She goes in-depth about her experience with the Vietnam War, how she first heard about it, and how she felt about the war itself. Rueber then talks about how she was treated after the war and what her life is like now and when she first returned after the war. The interview concludes with Rueber’s advice to women who would like to get involved in the military and the final thoughts she would like future students and historians to hear.Interview Accession
