Interview Summary
William Salazar (Guatemala, 1972-1973; Agriculture Program) describes his experiences as the son of an agricultural worker and growing up bilingual in Phoenix, Arizona in the late 1950s and early 1960s. He discusses joining the Peace Corps to work in agriculture after his freshman year in college and talks about his job, the importance of language, what he learned about the people, culture, and politics of Guatemala. He also discusses his life and educational background both before and after joining the Peace Corps, including doing grants administration at Morehead State University in Kentucky and is an advocate and practitioner of multicultural education.Interview Accession
