Interview Summary
Johnson begins the interview by describing his childhood in Tennessee, how he spent his time, and his experiences with racism in his youth. He talks specifically about the segregation in healthcare he experienced, the inequality in school facilities, and the high dropout rate among African American students. He also tells a story about a man he knew who was lynched. Johnson talks about the history of African American churches in the rural South.
