Interview Summary
Mary McCoy served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Kingdom of Tonga from 2002 to 2005. Prior to Peace Corps, Mary had a career as a Human Resources professional in the private sector. After a seeing a Peace Corps slide presentation on Micronesia, Mary jumped at the opportunity to join Peace Corps as an older volunteer. Mary’s training cohort was Peace Corps Tonga Group #63 and her pre-service training in language, culture, and technical training were conducted in Lavengatonga. Her site assignment was in the capital city of Nuku'alofa working as a management advisor to the Tonga National Youth Congress. Mary also engaged in secondary projects developing cultural training programs. Mary extended her service to a third year and then stayed in Tonga for seven more years to co-found and work as Managing Director for the Training Group of the Pacific, a consulting firm serving NGOs and government entities throughout the Pacific Island countries.Interview Accession
