Interview Summary

Tapp discusses her family's life in Owensboro and her childhood experiences. She mentions her mother's positive recollections about the black Chatauquas that were held in Owensboro. Tapp reflects on the black neighborhoods growing up as compared to the present day. She also talks about attending the all-black high school before integration, and the importance of education within the black community. She recalls a racist incident that involved a watermelon which happened when she was a child while walking with her mother through a white neighborhood.
