Interview with Avriel Glass, September 24, 2020
Project: Peace Corps: COVID-19 Evacuated Peace Corps Volunteers Oral History Project
Interview Summary
Avriel Glass served as a Peace Corps volunteer in an education program in Indonesia from September 2019 to March 2020 when she was evacuated because of Covid 19. She discusses her in-country training in Surabuya and Kediri, her brief service in Jatiwangi in East Java, and the evacuation process. She speaks emotionally about her sadness of having to say good-bye to her host family and having her Peace Corps experience being cut short. She hopes to be able to return to Indonesia when Peace Corps resumes. She ends by remarking that she wishes more people in the US would understand how similar we all are despite the differences in our circumstances.Interview Accession
