Project: Peace Corps: The Returned Peace Corps Volunteer Oral History Project
Interview Summary
Becky Bosshart served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ukraine, from 2012 through 2014, in the Education program. Prior to Peace Corps, Becky studied journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno. She worked in Seoul, Republic of Korea, and then for the Las Vegas Sun. Becky entered Peace Corps through the Master’s International Program. Training was conducted in Chernihiv. It included Ukrainian language, culture, and teaching skills. During training she lived with a host family. Becky was assigned to Chernivtsi, in southwestern Ukraine, where she taught English at the Chernivtsi National University. Secondary projects included CACTUS (Community Action Ukrainian Style) camps. Becky’s personal service project was to obtain contemporary novels and create workbooks for students at her university. She was evacuated due to the Euromaidan Revolution, but completed her project back in the U.S.. She returned to Ukraine while on a Fulbright Scholarship to Romania, and presented the materials to the University. Becky continues to be involved with RPCV groups, including the RPCV Alliance for Ukraine.Interview Accession
