Interview Summary
Paula Maeder Connor served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Thailand, from 1972 through 1974, in the Education Program. Paula was inspired by John F. Kennedy, and knew from the time she was in 8th grade that she wanted to be a Peace Corps Volunteer. Paula studied Spanish and Political Science at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. She applied to Peace Corps thinking that she would be sent to a Spanish speaking country, but was invited to Thailand. Her group was the first to train in country, at sites in Bangkok, and Chiang Mai. Paula was assigned to teach English to 7th and 8th grade boys at Benchamarachuthit School in Chanthaburi. She enjoyed the students and staff, and formed an after school English Club. After Peace Corps, Paula attended seminary and became a Lutheran Minister. She has remained active in intercultural groups, and an RPCV Association. The interview discusses her experiences in Thailand, and impacts of those experience on her life afterwards.Interview Accession
