Interview Summary
Heather Robinson served as Peace Corps staff in Botswana, from 2008 to 20013, in Zambia from 2013 to 2016, and Washington DC during 2016 and 2017. Heather’s experience in Africa began with a college study abroad program in Senegal. After college, she traveled to and lived in Africa while working in Public Health, largely focused on HIV/AIDS prevention. While living in Benin on a Global Health Fellowship with USAID, Heather learned about the Peace Corps program there, and came to know staff members. Those connections eventually led to her applying for a Program Manager position in Botswana which soon after shifted to the Director of Programming and Training. During her time with Peace Corps, Heather worked with over 1,200 Volunteers. At the time of the interview, Heather works for USAID/Ghana as the HIV/AIDS Team Lead. Heather discusses countries she’s worked in; working with Peace Corps Volunteers; Peace Corps programs; and diversity among volunteers.Interview Accession
