Interview Summary
Wimberly C. Royster served the University of Kentucky in numerous capacities, including as the first vice president for Research and Graduate Studies, dean of the Graduate School, dean of the College of Arts & Sciences, and as special assistant to the president of the university. He also served as director of the UK Advanced Science and Technology Commercialization Center and was a professor of mathematics. In addition, he was vice president of the UK Research Foundation from 1973-1990. Royster also was assistant professor at Auburn University from 1952-56. This interview is a continuation of a previous one and Royster's progression from assistant professor to chair of the Mathematics Department at UK is the primary topic. Other topics include the Dickey and Oswald administrations at UK, as well as Royster's family life and time at Auburn University.Interview Accession
