Interview Summary
Katharine Graham discusses her husband's friendship with Ed Prichard. She talks about Prichard's personality and qualities, focusing on his tendency to be irresponsible.Graham talks about how Ed Prichard's friends helped him, especially during his trial and his time in prison (in 1948, Prichard was indicted for stuffing 254 votes in a U.S. Senate race). The interviewer and Graham discuss President Harry Truman's role in Prichard's trial, including giving his approval to wiretap Prichard's phone, as well as his later pardon of Prichard after the trial.
