Interview Summary

Gardner discusses her friendship with Robert Penn Warren that resulted from her ex-husband, Allen Tate, a contemporary of Warren's. The closeness of Warren and Tate is emphasized, as well as a shared background deeply rooted in the South. Many descriptions of Tate's personal life are given, as well as his apparent racism towards minorities. Biographers and research upon Tate are also examined.
