This project contains a detailed history of the Preston family, beginning with the marriage of John Preston and Elizabeth Patton around the year 1723. Fifteen years later, the couple migrated to America and had five children, and many of their descendants either became or married Kentucky military officers, ministers, lawyers, and politicians. Interviewee Mary Preston Gray tells numerous stories about their lives, including family births, deaths, and marriages. She speaks of their religious commitment, various economic ventures, and careers. Gray also reminisces about the times she spent with her grandmother, Mary Preston Peyton, in the early 20th century.
