This collection documents the life of Georgia Davis Powers, who was born in 1923. She served 21 years in the Kentucky State Senate, was involved in the civil rights movement, and has written a book entitled "The Day Dr. Martin Luther King was Killed: Five Friends, Five Hours, Five Steps to Infamy". In these interviews, Powers discusses her early experience with racism and it shaped her views, the impact religion made on her at a young age, and her relationship with Martin Luther King, Jr. and other major political personalities, such as her meeting with Bobby Kennedy.
