Summary: 

Born in Frankfort and raised in Danville, Mr. Roach graduated from Kentucky State College. He began his teaching career in Danville, Kentucky in 1938, moving to Dunbar High in 1941. A coach for 25 years, Mr. Roach reminisces about his career, the athletic rivalries between Lexington Dunbar and Lexington Douglas, and Dunbar playing white schools in athletic competitions. He discusses the segregated conditions of the African American schools, the role of the teacher in the African American community, and the effects of integration.
