Mary G. Dunn was born and raised in Virginia and attended college at West Virginia State, majoring in education. She moved to Kentucky because her husband, whose family were farmers, was from Lancaster. She describes the farm that she and her husband Arthur had there. It initially included a dairy operation, but then changed to beef production. They also raised tobacco. She discusses the inheritance of farmland within the context of their family and states that her father in law was also a farmer who started his career as a sharecropper. Dunn also talks about the county organizations that she is active in and her leadership roles in them.
